SkelpieLimmer thrive on the idea of theatre as a collaborative art
SkelpieLimmer Associate Artist
SkelpieLimmer are overjoyed to welcome Colm McCready as their Associate Artist.
We were privileged to be invited by Colm to join his Dublin Fringe Artist At Work development week in September 2022. Fresh from the excitement of Edinburgh Fringe we were at risk of major post show comedown but this invigorating, stimulating creative week was the perfect tonic.
During this week Colm allowed us into the world of his debut play ‘Scaredy Fat’. In the initial readthrough Gina had to pause the reading just to draw everyone’s attention to how much Seón was smiling. We knew instantly that ‘Scaredy Fat’ was something special and was proof of our belief that serious theatre doesn’t have to feel serious. By the end of day one we knew we wanted to produce it. At the end of the week we offered this to Colm and to our delight he said yes. There and then we agreed to work together as a team supporting each other in all things practical and creative to deliver the best possible version of Colm’s incredible script there could be.
Since then as a team we have won the Edinburgh National Partnerships Award with Pleasance Theatre, Les Enfants Terribles and Lyric Belfast and are returning to Edinburgh Fringe for August 2023.
We are beyond delighted to have Colm as our Associate Artist and to announce Scaredy Fat as SkelpieLimmer’s second play.
“I am proud to be an associate artist with SkelpieLimmer. The trajectory of Scaredy Fat’s development and how far it has come in such a short period of time has completely exceeded my expectations thanks to Seón and Gina. The trust, support and craic in the room is a dream for any creative and I couldn’t have brought this show to anyone else.”
