REVOLUTION IS NEVER QUIET
SkelpieLimmer is a partnership dedicated to making uncensored theatre that provokes change and starts conversations.
We premiered our partnership at Dublin Fringe Festival 2019 with the award winning ‘Two Fingers Up’.
We have gone on to become resident Hatch & Scratch Artists at The MAC, Belfast for 2020/21 and are currently developing new work under the Abbey Theatre & Dublin Fringe Festival Creative Thinking Award.
LONG STORY SHORT
SkelpieLimmer recognises the importance of joy in creating change.
TELL ME MORE
Serious theatre doesn’t have to feel serious.
Our name is taken from the Robert Burns poem ‘Halloween’ and refers to a misbehaving child. We chose this as we feel it reflects both a sense of mischief and of railing against accepted authority, but grounded in the childlike fun of boldness.
We are committed to creating joyful empowering experiences for our audiences. We understand that audiences crave escapism and don’t always engage with verbatim displays of grim reality, no matter how much they may care about the issue. We believe that by tackling significant issues through comedy and play our audiences will find a much easier path into those conversations after.
We have witnessed that allowing our audiences to have fun has given them the power and the freedom to shout, cheer, stomp and vocalise their passion, to break the accepted rules of theatres as quiet spaces.
We are taking this forward and creating work about the things that make us react in a big way, be it anger, sadness, happiness, lust, freedom or confusion, while always retaining that sense of mischief and fun.
